Cooking Students at Burdur Hilmi Hafize Evin Nursing Home!

In order to enhance the morale and motivation of individuals residing in the nursing home by touching their social lives, a visit was made to Burdur Hilmi Hafize Evin Nursing Home with the students of Burdur Gıda Tarım ve Hayvancılık Vocational School, Hotel Restaurant and Catering Services Department, Culinary Program.

 

The event was attended by the same Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Şenol GÜZEL, Department Head Lecturer Muhamed HAYKIR, Lecturer Mustafa GÖRÜCÜLER, and Lecturer Yunus BAYGÜL. It was aimed for the Culinary Department students to gain a sense of social responsibility, develop empathy, and combine their professional skills with social benefit.

 

Cakes, pastries, and cookies prepared by the students before the visit were offered to the nursing home residents. Throughout the event, students chatted with the nursing home residents, listened to their memories, and ensured they had an enjoyable time.

 

While the happiness of the nursing home residents was observed during the visit, the students also gained significant emotional and social achievements. Students gained awareness in human relations, communication, and social sensitivity.

 

The event was extremely positive for both the students and the nursing home residents. With such social responsibility projects, students' personal development is supported while their sensitivity towards society is also increased.

 

We sincerely thank our esteemed elders who saw our students as their grandchildren and children and chatted with them sincerely. We also thank the nursing home staff who continuously assisted from the beginning to the end of the event.
