Burdur Food Agriculture and Livestock Vocational School, Laboratory and Veterinary Health Program students, under the academic coordination of Dr. Instructor Görevlisi Türker ATCALI, carried out a comprehensive applied training program aimed at transforming the theoretical infrastructure acquired within the curriculum into clinical competence under field conditions. As part of this study, the small ruminant business within our university was transformed into an interactive clinical practice area for students. A total of seven comprehensive technical field visits were conducted to our university farm throughout the 2025–2026 academic year, allowing students to undergo an intensive clinical practice process.
The main focus of the visits was to enhance animal welfare and productivity. Students had the opportunity to personally apply critical clinical procedures such as the implementation of the vaccination schedule, targeted parenteral and oral medication applications, hoof care and trimming, horn trimming applications, probe applications for clinical indications, and detailed examinations supporting reproductive health. Additionally, they gained knowledge and skills in animal health records, herd management, birth management, neonatal care, and shelter hygiene.
These intensive clinical field applications not only improved the students' technical skills but also reinforced their analytical thinking abilities regarding patient clinical examination, diagnostic processes, and preventive medicine approaches.
